Caring for Your Shoes

How long your shoes last depends on how well you look after them.

          1. Cleaning and caring for your shoes:

The first thing you must do is clean your shoes. For leather shoes, it is recommended to use a damp cloth to remove dust. Then let the shoes rest and dry for a few minutes before applying care products. Suede calfskin shoes can be cleaned and dusted with a horsehair brush. Exotic leathers can be gently dusted with a soft bristle brush.

  • Caring for smooth leather shoes

To really pamper your shoes, you should polish them every week. The choice of tools is important: use a soft cloth wrapped around your index finger and coated with shoe polish to massage the leather with light circular movements, and a polishing brush to coat the leather and its perforations. For a beautiful final result, a few moments later, use a soft brush and a polishing glove to complete the polishing.

For a mirror-like high-shine effect, continue by glazing your shoe: moisten a soft cloth with water before applying polish and massaging it in with circular movements.

To avoid the leather naturally drying out, it is essential to apply a conditioning cream each month. Its invigorating effect will keep shoes soft and keep them beautiful for longer. Finally, it is recommended to use grease to nourish the sole.

  • Caring for suede calfskin shoes

In order to maintain the velvety appearance of suede calfskin, it is recommended to brush your shoes with a horsehair brush once a week and with a rubber brush once a month. Then apply a waterproofing spray and let them dry.

Finally, to help your suede shoes last longer and increase their shine, we recommend that you avoid wearing them in the rain.

  • Caring for shoes made from exotic skins

To restore the shine and softness of shoes made from exotic skins, it is recommended to regularly apply a special cream for precious leathers.

           2. Maintaining the shape of your shoes:

A shoe tree is a must for maintaining the shape of your shoes and ensuring they last longer. It is above all recommended to use wooden shoe trees that are adapted to the shape, length and width of the shoes. Wood is a natural material that can absorb moisture and care should be taken to keep the shoe trees away from any source of heat.

Furthermore, in order to protect your shoes from the very beginning, it is recommended to use a shoehorn. The foot will glide over the smooth leather, while preserving the heel counter.
